This was about a 4″ split, I stapled it, glued it, patched it on both sides with a aluminum plate and elevator bolts. then put a 6″ patch and a large boot over that, then a new tube inside the old one. if I did over I would probably sew with some stainless wire instead of staple, and use 1/4 elevator bolts rather than the 5/16 ones.
