This is a compilation of recent recoveries I’ve done that I did not have enough footage for an entire video on its own. They range from a simple vehicle vehicle over the side recovery to a massive heavy duty burn job. Leave a comment to let me know which one was your favorite; I’ll be choosing 3 winners at random by the end of this week to give out cool limited Pepe’s swag!
UPDATE: Winners have been announced! Congrats to:
In today’s video Darl initially responds to a CHP call of a 40ft diesel pusher that had a front steer tire blowout causing it to crash into the center divider on the 10 freeway. Darl in the Landoll trailer attempted to winch the RV away from the center divider with no success due to the impact wedging the RV into the center divider. At this point, Darl called Trent Jr who so happened to be in the rotator already to respond to the scene to winch the RV back and away from the center. The rotator was perfect in this situation because we were able to work off the nose of the truck and not shut the highway down once.

Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt’s?
A: No, the carriage doesn’t slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

How Ceramic Coatings Work – What Is The Best Ceramic Coating?

Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday!
We are learning all about the world of ceramic coatings! We’ll learn: What is a 9H ceramic coating? How much do ceramic coatings cost? How to apply a ceramic coating? What is a nano coating? This is all thanks to XPEL who I’ve partnered with on the video to learn about the ever popular world of coatings. They’ve recently launched their new product Fusion Plus, and what I appreciate about XPEL is that they’re very realistic about what ceramic coatings can and can’t do.
If you’ve followed the ceramic coating craze lately, you may hear claims like these coatings completely preventing scratches and rock chips, or that you’ll never need to wash your car again. Not exactly accurate, but that’s not to take away from the very real benefits that these coatings provide, like the ease of maintaining your paint’s cleanliness, protection from things like tree sap, bug guts, and bird dropping, the deep, glossy appearance, and of course the very popular hydrophobic, or water-repelling, qualities.
So let’s start with how it works, why it’s useful, and then get into some of the more common misconceptions. XPEL’s ceramic coating, fusion plus, is a silicon based product. So you have a carrier fluid containing nano-particles, and these tiny particles create an inseparable bond with your paintwork that can’t easily be washed off like a wax or sealant. Really, one of the easiest ways to think about a ceramic coating is like a semi-permanent wax or sealant.
Regarding pricing for XPEL Fusion Plus, if a car is fully wrapped in paint protective film, it will be about $800 to $1,000 depending on the size of the vehicle and local labor rates. If paint correction is required, the cost will range from about $1,200 to $2,000, depending on the level of correction required and local labor rates.

It’s time for some serious winter testing here on TestDrive! We couldn’t have asked for worse weather to test the all-new 2019 Subaru Forester Sport, with almost a foot of snow, no road salting, and next to no plowing, this compact crossover SUV has its work cut out for it.
Our full tour and review of the 2019 Subaru Forester Sport 2.5i focuses on living with this model in Canada. With a huge snowfall the day we picked this vehicle up, we knew we had to do some serious deep snow testing with Subaru’s symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and the dual X-Mode available on this Sport model. We go over everything you need to know if you need the ultimate winter warrior.
We go over all the features of the 2019 Forester Sport, including the standard LED headlights, vertical LED fog lights, blacked-out trim, orange sport trim, 18″ rims with winter tires, keyless entry, power rear lift-gate, and the dark blue metallic paint. We jump inside where it’s warm to talk about the 8″ StarLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, SiriusXM Radio, and the optional 9-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system.
The cloth seats and interior space is also scrutinized during our review, along with other features like heated front seats, large power sunroof, semi-LED interior lighting, USB charging and much more. We focus in on the features and tech that matter the most to buyers looking at compact crossovers and put them through some real-world testing. We talk about the EyeSight enhanced safety technology and what features you get with it, along with some added safety tech found on Subaru vehicles.
We then take the 2019 Subaru Forester on a road test in deep snow, harsh conditions, and foot-high snow mounds to see if it’s AWD control system is capable of getting you out of sticky situations. We test out the dual X-Mode including snow and mud control, along with deep snow and heavy mud mode. We also talk about the ride and handling of this vehicle, and what kind of suspension and brakes are equipped.
We wrap up our episode of TestDrive Spotlight on the 2019 Subaru Forester Sport by talking about what we liked and disliked about this new 5th generation Forester.
