On June 24, 2019, I responded to a tractor trailer loaded with tires that overturned on the Harry Bridges off ramp in San Pedro. The company sent their own containers and crew to offload the tires, although they were only able to take 85-90% of the load. Once the scene was clear, recovery straps were rigged to the lift line and dual 15′ 1/2″ chains were rigged to the catch line. I used one of the auxiliary winches to help the tractor come over with the trailer, while a heavy wrecker was placed in the front to control the catch, then prepped for tow back to customer’s base.

While there are many factors that play into the life of the economy, truck drivers are the heart and soul which keeps the blood pumping. According to the American Trucking Association, there are 3.5 million commercial truck drivers in the United States. Each and every day thousands of truck drivers are on the roads delivering the products we use, the food that we consume and the materials corporations utilize to build our infrastructures.
Of course, like anything else, trucks need maintenance. Somewhere every day there is a truck breaking down on the road and more often than not, with slim to no options available.
Hi, my name is Costas Themistocleous, and I am the founder and CEO of TruckER. I have been working in the commercial trucking industry for the last decade, moving freight, automobiles and commodities for consumers and corporations all throughout the United States and Canada. When a driver breaks down, it is not usually an easy task finding them service to get them back up and running. I think we can all relate to the frustrations of spending precious time searching the web and inaccurate directory services looking for the right service vendor at a reasonable cost.
TruckER is designed to help drivers find service fast and easy with the click of a button. Minimizing downtime and time consumed spent searching for an expert, willing and licensed service vendor to come and repair your rig.
Simply choose the breakdown category, answer a few simple questions, upload photos of the incident and hit “Find Service Now”
TruckER then utilizes advanced GPS technology to quickly pinpoint your exact breakdown location and instantly pings the 5 nearest service vendors who cater to your specific breakdown needs, displaying rates, ETA and availability. TruckER allows users to submit their breakdown into a 90 second auction style bidding system, allowing vendors to compete on your breakdown service, which can save you time and money. Upon accepting a vendors ETA and quote, a service ticket is generated and a chat window opens between you and the vendor, allowing further information and detail to be discussed. When service is completed, vendors can upload the invoice directly through TruckER, and both user and vendor can rate their experience with one another.
Truck drivers keep our world in motion and without them, we’d be a lot less connected. We here at TruckER understand and appreciate the importance of commercial truck drivers and what they do for our everyday lives. Our mission here is simple.. That is to keep you up and running with minimal downtime and cost effective service solutions provided by expert, willing and genuine service vendors.
TruckER will be available through Apple’s App Store on iOS devices, the Google Play Store on Android devices and through the World Wide Web. When your truck goes down and you need service fast, TruckER is here to assist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Custom Backup Lights for your Trucks & Trailers! (McDonald Chrome Shop) Follow along as we install Trux Dual Revolution Lights on our livestock trailers so our drivers can see when they are backing into hog and cattle sites and not back into dumpsters, farm equipment or other things just laying around some of the farms we load at during all times of the night.

Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt’s?
A: No, the carriage doesn’t slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

Driving in the snow results in less grip, which ultimately means you need to change your driving behaviors to make sure you maintain control of the vehicle. This video explores the ideas of different driving conditions, and how each of these driving conditions affect the overall grip of a vehicle. We’ll also look at how stopping distances and cornering speeds will be changed by various road conditions, such as dry, wet, snow, or ice.
